A Large Modernist Alabaster Table Lamp, c1950 -1970, the
cylindrical alabaster shade with a large textured central band
sitting on an alabaster disk attached to a solid slim cylindrical
stem, the whole supported on a circular base with a textured edge.
Alabaster's translucent properties made it a favoured material among
many designers of twentieth century lighting such as Pierre Chareau,
Edgar Brandt, Abert Chereut, Emile Jacques Ruhlmann and Jean-Michel
Frank. The shade can be turned to show stronger veining.
