Josef Lorenzl - A stylish Art Deco bronze figurine
"Marlene", Vienna Austria circa 1930 the young woman in an evening
gown smoking a cigarette, silvered and cold-painted with
enamel colour, mounted on a substantial marble base.
Ahhh...back to a time when smoking was considered sophisticated and
a sign of modernity and emancipation...I have seen three examples of
this figure: one was owned by the late author Jackie Collins and the
other had an ivory head. Both were, like this one, unsigned, but
there is absolutely no doubt that Josef Lorenzl created this very
lovely Art Deco figurine.
