Bernard Holdaway for Hull Traders Ltd c1966.
A rare pair of tomotom demi-lune shelves / side tables in
black enamelled compressed cardboard.
Designed in 1966, tomotom was a
range of low-price furniture with a Pop aesthetic, based entirely on
a circular theme – cylinders, discs and spheres. Conceived as a
collection that could be added to over time, the ‘circle’ allowed
for greater flexibility in grouping and arrangement. The furniture
was designed to be disposable and as such many pieces didn't
survive, with the range discontinued in 1971.
