Elaine Bscheider for Dorothy Thorpe Inc Pretzel Candlesticks
c1960’s, consisting of a twin branch and a single stick, the
twisted, bent Acrylic / Lucite forming a loose knot with gold plated
candle sconces.
Based in California, Dorothy Thorpe started designing glass pieces
in the 1940’s with her work initially being sold in a small
Hollywood gift shop and then soon picked up by the larger well known
stores. Her customer base grew and included such high profile names
as Clarke Gable, Princess Grace of Monaco and the Shah of Iran.
In the mid 20th Century she began experimenting with Lucite with the
design of these Pretzel candlesticks generally attributed to Elaine
Bscheider for Dorothy Thorpe Inc. The candlesticks were never marked
but were sold with the Dorothy Thorpe label.
