A large and stunning art nouveau French spelter bust by
Emmanuel Villanis titled "Diane" circa 1900 the young woman
with a serene gaze, the spelter with a bronze finish.
Emmanuel Villanis
Born in France of Italian parentage. He was educated in Italy,
but worked and exhibited in France in the Salon de Paris and at
the Paris Exposition Universelle. In 1889 he received an
honourable mention. The characteristic and unmistakable "look" of
the eyes of his subjects is due to his technique of deep cutting
and his work can be found in plaster, spelter, marble and bronze
.
