Max Le Verrier Art Deco Table Lamp 1930

Pierre Le Faguays Farandole for Max Le Verrier and signed Fayral - An Art Deco metal lamp, France circa 1930, the young woman holding an illuminated tambourine, with a dark green bronzed finish, mounted on a shaped marble base.
This early edition of Farandole with the illuminated tambourine is very hard to find. The shaped marble base has old restorations.
Edited by the famous Max Le Verrier foundry in Paris, Fayral is the pseudonym of the sculptor Pierre le Faguays. Le Verrier edited all white metal works by Le Faguays, which are signed Fayral or Le Faguays. Literature: Art Deco Sculpture - Alastair Duncan, illustrated on page 182.

Pierre Le Faguays
Born in Nantes; pupil of Vibert. He attracted the attention of the public at his first exhibition due to the originality he gave his dancing subjects which were inspired by the statues of Tangara. He was a member of the salon of La Stele and Evolution groups. Received a medal of honour in 1927.
Max Le Verrier
After serving in WW1, Le Verrier studied at the École des Beaux-Art in Geneva alongside Marcel Bouraine and Pierre Le Faguays who remained friends for life, often working together. In the early 1920s he inherited a small foundry in which he was soon producing small sculptures and decorative objects such as lamps, ashtrays, bookends and hood ornaments in the Art Deco style. In addition to his own sculptures, he cast for the artists Pierre Le Faguays, Marcel Bouraine, André Vincent Becquere and Jules Edmont Masson among others. He mostly worked with bronze, ivory, zinc, terracotta and ceramics. Le Verrier showed his work in the salons of the Société des artistes décorateurs of which he was an elected member and at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et industriels modern in 1925 he won a gold medal. He also exhibited at the Paris World Exhibition in 1937.
