A rare Art Nouveau earthenware sculpture by J Peche for Koenig & Lengsfeld, Germany circa 1900, the young mermaid among waves forming a planter.
This is a very nice piece and is easily confused with works by F. Goldscheider of Vienna that were being produced at the same time. The finish on this item is cold-painted (meaning it has not been fired) so my recommendation is that it could be filled with dried flowers only, or cut flowers in a water proof container placed within it.
