An extremely rare Art Deco patinated, silvered and gilded
bronze sculpture by Joseph Emmanuel Descomps circa 1925 titled
"Comparison", edited by Etling-Paris.
Joseph Jules Emmanuel Cormier (Joe Descomps) (French,
1869-1950).
Joe Descomps studied under Hiolin. He exhibited regularly at the
Salon of the Societe des Artistes Français, and designed and
executed a wide range of objects in the Art Nouveau and art deco
style, including jewellery, sculptures in bronze, stone, and
ceramics. In the 1920s he concentrated more on small-scale
sculptures, mostly in bronze and bronze / ivory.
Edmund Etling
La Societe Anonyme Edmond Etling was founded after the First World
War in Paris. Edmund Etling was a retailer who commissioned art
works in bronze, ceramics, and glass (mostly from French artists).
The glass pieces were usually made for Etling at the Choisy-le-Roi
glassworks. Their entire output was produced during the Art Deco
period as the company did not survive the second world war.
