Stefan Dakon Goldscheider Art Deco figurine - Vienna
Austria, produced c1931/32, depicting a young woman in
stylish sporting outfit with her two setters.
This is a rare figure, being unrecorded in the book "Goldscheider
- History of the Company and Catalogue of Works". The left dog is
listed as an individual model, number 6803F.
There is a slight firing flaw to the front of the base. Stefan Dakon 1904-1992.
Alongside Josef Lorenzl, Dakon is probably now one of the best
known of the Art Deco period designers to work for Goldscheider
(working from 1924) sculpting a wide range of stylish figures
depicting the "modern" woman. He worked in bronze, spelter and
ceramic and also designed for the famous firms of Katzhutte,
Goebel and Keramos.
