Bruno Zach - An Art Deco erotic bronze figure "Broken
Hearts", Vienna, Austria 1920s, depicting a young woman
hitching up her dress to expose her garter, smoking a cigar and
standing on a pile of broken hearts. She is mounted on an integral
bronze base, patinated and cold-painted.
Bruno Zach was a Ukrainian born sculptor who worked in
Vienna in the early part of the 20th Century. His works range in
style from Orientalism and Art Nouveau to Art Deco and sporting
subjects but he is most famous for his works depicting women who
can best be described as "sexually liberated"!
This is a fine example of his work, being both erotic and slightly
macabre!
