Archibald Carne 1879 - 1968, A Wrought Iron Companion Set
comprising of 4 fire tools and the stand.
Beautifully made and designed by one of Britain's finest wrought
iron metalworkers of the 20th century arts & crafts movement.
This companion set can be seen in a photograph of his stand at a
Red Rose Guild Exhibition in Manchester c1937 along with a
firescreen which was bought by the Manchester Art Gallery.
Archibald Carne was known as The Smith of Truro, and
exhibited widely in Britain as well as Europe and the U.S.A.
As well as being chosen for the New York World Fair in 1938
his work also found it’s way in to the influential Swedish
Design store Svenskt Tenn. He won many awards for his work
and had several large commissions, notably gates for Truro
