Sibylle May (attributed) - Art Deco bronze statue, France circa
1925, in the cubist style, with the stylised semi-naked young
woman holding a fan sat on a stylised seat, the bronze gold painted
and mounted on a green marble base.
This is a quality and very stylish bronze.

Sibylle May
English sculptor who worked in Paris during the interwar period. She
was part of of Arthur Goldscheider's groups of artists known as La
Stele and L'Evolution and was known for her Cubist influenced
statuettes in Art Deco style and other decorative items. She also
worked with her friend and colleague in La Stele, the
ceramicist Édouard Cazaux and also collaborated with the
sculptor Pierre Le Faguays . May worked with bronze and ceramics.
