Paul Philippe (signed H Piech) a classic Art Deco cold-painted
bronze sculpture "Reveil", France circa 1920, the young woman
stretching after waking up, mounted on a green onyx and yellow
marble base.
Piech Is the original Polish surname of Paul Phillipe and
this is the earliest design of this particular sculpture.
Paul Philippe (Polish, 1870 - 1930) Born in Thorn, Poland,
Philippe became a pupil of Antonin Larroux when he moved to Paris
(he also worked in Berlin with his works edited by Rosenthal und
Maeder) and exhibited at all the French salons. Philippe worked with
bronze and ivory in both the Art Nouveau (some Art Nouveau style
works can be found in spelter) and Art Deco styles.
